Prayer

Adoration

The Adoration of the Holy Eucharist, or Eucharistic Adoration, is an opportunity for the faithful to pray to Jesus Christ before the Eucharist. Adoration is a sign of devotion to and worship of Jesus Christ, who is, according to Christian tradition, present in body, blood, soul, and divinity, under the appearance of the consecrated host, that is, sacramental bread.

Confession

Penance is an experience of the gift of God's boundless mercy. Not only does it free us from our sins but it also challenges us to have the same kind of compassion and forgiveness for those who sin against us. We are liberated to be forgivers. We obtain new insight into the words of the Prayer of St. Francis: "It is in pardoning that we are pardoned."

Grief

Though separated from the living, the dead are still at one with the community of believers on earth and benefit from their prayers and intercession. At the rite of final commendation and farewell, the community acknowledges the reality of separation and commends the deceased to God.

Intentions

An “intention” that we wish to pray for is a request about some situation, a request for someone's health, or any PETITION that a person would like prayer for. The way to pray is the way you would normally approach God in prayer, with reverence, gratitude for past blessings received, and an “expectant faith” that God will answer this petition. Submit a prayer intention request to be added to the Gospel News.
