Reflections on Time Management

…  by Deacon Dennis Langdon ~ (5/23)

At the dinner table last night I was scarfing my dinner pretty fast. My lovely wife, Sandy said “slow down and enjoy your food”. I said “you don’t understand, I don’t have a free evening until Sunday and chores are pilling up”. She said “what did they tell you in formation to learn the word NO.”

St. James “you are a puff a of smoke and you have no idea what your life will be like tomorrow.” It is good to have plans and schedules to keep, but  what if those plans and schedules don’t work out?

St James “If the Lord wills it, we shall live to do this or that.” One thing I did take from formation is that of time management. “Take care of the task in front of you” don’t worry about the many things that can distract you. The glass on the counter as you pass by really needs to be in the sink, leave it and “take care of the task in front of you.”

At the end of the day, if you need, go over the list of the many things you did as well as the many things you did not do. Know that is the will of God that through his mercy and grace you accomplished some things and the ones you did not, maybe it is not God’s will that those need not be accomplished! It’s a new schedule today.

Thank You God for another day to serve You and help me to do your will TODAY.
